Stopped over briefly in Malaysia and Singapore on my way to Europe. Had a lovely time catching up with some of my family.
While I was in Singapore I had the opportunity to visit the graves of NZ military personnel at Kranji cemetery. I took an hour bus ride there and spent over 3 hrs searching, placing crosses and photographing graves, names of memorial panels of Kiwis who served with NZ Forces and foreign forces. It was a beautiful experience to have the privilege to pay tribute to them.
I am glad they now have a small piece of NZ placed at their graves.
While there I saw a ground of school childdren with their teachers so I asked if I could spend 5mins telling the children about the purpose of my visit to the cemetery and about the Dolores Cross Project. I am glad I did because most of them had not seen a poppy and the story behind the poppy as a symbol of remembrance.
